  • Trinity Sunday is celebrated one week after Pentecost. It honors the central mystery of the Catholic faith: the Holy Trinity.
  • The term "Trinity" is not explicitly found in the Bible.
  • The doctrine is derived from passages referring to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Example: The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19, where Jesus commands baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • Early Church Fathers developed the doctrine through prayer, reflection, and theological discourse. The Nicene Creed, formulated at the First Council of Nicaea in 325 AD and expanded in 381 AD, is a key declaration of the Trinity.
  • Through the celebration of the Trinity, we come to a deeper understanding and experience of God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—a perfect and eternal communion of love.
